Noosa Coastal Walk

Noosa Coastal Walk

These next beaches hold a special place in my heart. I spent 6 months living in Noosa, Australia enjoying all the incredible beaches it had to offer. Noosa is a small surf town half way up the east coast of Australia. One of my favourite things about this area is the Noosa Coastal Walk. This hike takes about two hours to do and takes you to some of the most beautiful coastal view points and picturesque beaches in Australia.

The hike starts at either Sunshine Beach (the southeast corner of the map) or Noosa Main Beach (the northwest corner of the map) and takes you along many coves and bays. This hike offers some killer views and quiet, peaceful beaches.

The Search for the World's Best Beach

During my search for the best beach in the world I have had the privilege of swimming, sailing, surfing and snorkelling some incredible destinations. The most wonderful and surprising beach out of all the beaches I have been to was on an island off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar is an Archipelago off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. It is part of Tanzania and is home to some of the prettiest beaches in the world. The experience I had at this incredible destination was one I will remember forever.

One of my favourite memories from Zanzibar was a day spent exploring tidal pools along the shore. The tide was out revealing parts beach that would otherwise have been covered in water. A local man, Deepak, offered to act as our tour guide and helped us safely explore each tidal pool. The pools were teaming with brightly coloured little sea creatures, many of which I had never seen before.  We eventually came across a pool that had an octopus hiding in it. Deepak taught us how to safely pick up the octopus and we took turns passing it around. We spent the rest of the afternoon looking at vibrant sea stars, different sponges and many other critters.

The white sands and blue waters were enough to keep me longing for another day on the beaches of Zanzibar. Some day I will return to enjoy some freshly caught fish, friendly smiling locals, hot sand between my toes and the blue salty waters of this amazing beach. Until then, I will keep searching for a beach that can top the beautiful beaches off of Tanzania.
